so instead of sending CD's to friends and handing out free CD's to random people at concerts and on the street, I'll have to hand out memory sticks??

That's why I burn CD's, plus for my personal collection. Btw, I take VERY good care of them, I only handle them by the edges. I have years old CD's with their playing side with nary a fingerprint or mark.

So still, my 2 questions....

I have found that some discs with cheap coatings become unplayable over time - even if they've never been used once. I never use an off-brand or no-name disc, and I've had better success with Maxell, Memorex and Fuji brands. No recs here on ext. burners, other than to look for flexibility to burn various formats.
